Compact Modern Kitchen Design

Small spaces present unique design challenges, especially with respect to kitchens. But these challenges can be stimulating and rewarding.

Very often the Modern aesthetic provides an excellent set of tools for approaching these challenges. The geometric freedom and asymmetry, the precise, crisp lines and the simplified masses all combine to provide a space-efficient, compact, stylish resolution.

In this example, the wrapping of the countertop material down the sides of the island gives the kitchen a unique and memorable character. The cabinetry takes on the character of streamlined furniture, lightly occupying the space without taking over the room. The three floating blue lights over the island add a playful touch of color and curves, subtly countered by the curves of the cabinet handles.
